As we are usually focused on the immediate consequences of our actions, and tend to neglect that they have long-term consequences, this yields the law of unintended consequences: “The unintended consequences of any action will be more permanent than the intended consequences.”

We however must add this: That making no decision IS a decision. It is a decision to surrender control of a situation to outside persons or circumstances outside our control.

These axioms ought to be cautionary to people of all political persuasions.

There was a time when a conservative would try to change things if necessary for betterment and liberals would try to change things experimentally for betterment. Now it seems that conservatives won’t change things even in the face of disaster and liberals will change things just to change things and cause disaster. Rationality be damned.

    Wrong!

Obama and Reid are the ones who refuse to yield.

Obama got his Tax Increases and agreed to tough budget cuts, now he is wanting to back out on that part of the deal.

I agree, except I think it should be said that liberals don’t intentionally cause disaster, it simply is part of experimentation. And when you change things just to change things, some disaster is inevitable. But as for the conservatives, they won’t change anything, and in business, that constituency they are so fond of, if you don’t change, you die. So the conservatives are wanting to condemn this country to die.

    “Obama got his Tax Increases”
WRONG!!!!! He only got part of the increases he wanted, the republicans fought to protect the wealthy and when faced the the prospect that the American people were going to have none of that, they gave a little.
During the previous manufactured crisis the republicans were crying tax reform, but President Obama refused saying that meaningful tax reform would take time. Well time has passed and he wants some tax reform, but now that it is his idea tax reform is bad. We got tax reform here in Michigan, republican controlled State House and State Senate, republican “business man” governor, – $1.6 billion in corporate tax breaks, $1.4 billion of which was paid for by “tax reform” passing the bill to the indigent, working poor, lower middle class and seniors. Big business got the tax breaks and the little guy got the bill, republican utopia. To be fair the biggest corporate tax eliminate was a bad tax (I was never subject to) but that does not excuse eliminating corporate/business tax and passing the bill off to those who can least afford to pay it. Aren’t corporations people too? Then why shouldn’t they pay taxes just like flesh and blood “people”?

Bottom line is you are ignoring most of the issue and cherry-picking one small point, on which you are still WRONG!

Its a “he said – she said” deal as to who will not yield..
Perhaps when the tea party dies out and are replaced by liberals things will improve.
But, we do need the conservatives in order to maintain a balance; ones to apply the brakes to the progressives when they become “carried away”…
Now, the thing is – do we have balance ?
Are the progressives “out of control” ??
    I think NOT.
