Who runs the Metro in D.C. – Lionel??
edinbaltimore said, 7 months ago
Unfortunately this is too parochial for most of us.

Dude get over yourself people are two narrow minded to know that the rails systems are down or at least not working at full capacity.
You either think to much of yourself or to little of others.

No, your comment is too self-serving. ed is right, this is a localized subject and as ed eloquently protested, the toon is too parochial for the other 48 states (Joyzee is connected to the NYC transit system).

How is it self serving. I live in the what you call the other 48 states and I can understand the trains are not working. and you repeated the word parochial which means:
Def:
Having a limited or narrow outlook or scope.
So you think people can’t understand the trains aren’t working?

Toles definitely has it in for the Metro. Maybe Tom should just drive himself to work rather than do the Metro he hates so much. Get over the fact that public transportation will never measure up to your expectations which are too high.

Oh and I almost forgot, what do yo mean about the other 48 states. You think only two states have Mass Transit? The states I know about myself are New York, Illinois, Texas, Georgia, California and Washington both DC and the state.
Ionizer said, 7 months ago
If this is too parochial for you, just unsubscribe. It’s not like you’ll miss a lot of reasoned ’toons.

Okay, it is clear that you MUST be right and can’t accept ed’s viewpoint. I live in Northern Michigan. We have regional public transportation too. But the problems Toles complains about in NYC are unique to NYC. Sure all public transportation systems have problems and some are the same as other places, but not likely to the same extents. What this ‘toon complains about is the general operating characteristic of NYC’s transit. So yes, in relative terms this complaint is very parochial. A very large city and it’s transit system that affects only part of two states is, by definition, “Having a limited or narrow outlook or scope,” in relation to the scope of distribution of this ’toon on the internet.

Just because Toles is not a blathering right-wing propagandist does NOT mean his viewpoint or cartoons aren’t reasoned. In fact the opposite is true. If he were a right-wing propaganda cartoonist he would, by demonstration of other hardcore CONservative mouthpiece cartoonists, be unreasoned, not to mention untruthful and tenuously connected to reality in general.

Noticed today that Toles is at the bottom of column 3 vice top of four. What strip has been deleted ?
Zuhlamon said, 7 months ago
Just an observation – his ‘toons are getting a lot like Gahan Wilson’s.
lonecat said, 7 months ago
@Zuhlamon
Gahan Wilson is one of the greats, but Toles has his own style — less grotesque, less manneristic, but right to the point.
Rickapolis said, 7 months ago
It is a local issue, but the Metro is SO poorly run right now that Toles can’t help himself. And there doesn’t seem to be much improvement on the horizon. For those of you out of the DC area, you may well see more like this.
