Everyone seems to recognise the problem when it’s someone else. How’s that national debt thing going for US?

Hmmm, I haven’t forgotten some infamous republicans that stated, “the debt doesn’t matter.” And other infamous republicans that started two un-funded wars on credit. Clearly the debt didn’t matter to them.

Clever as it is, I think this analogy would work better if the beer was usually free.

The Republicans, if you look at what they propose if they get into power, still don’t give a darn about debt or deficits. It’s just a useful cudgel to beat Democrats with. And as much as they claim to hate deficits, they’ve proved through their actions that closing tax loopholes for rich people is a far, far more serious danger to be avoided.

And if one listens to the President, he previously cared about deficits (re: speech in March of 2006), and now is willing to raise debt ceilings at the drop of a hat. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats really care about it. They are both culpable and to believe otherwise is naive.

Ummm… However went to any kind of Oktoberfest, especially the real one in Munich, would never think of “Temperance” as the leitmotif… Every year we have tons of people who need medical treatment and occasionally actual dead bodies from alcohol abuse. So the Bavarians are not the right people to talk to Europe, better find some Prussians, they are sober like heck …
