   We have great health insurance. Grow up, stay in school, get a job and, you can afford it too. As opposed to expecting someone else to pay for it.

   @Nomad - sounds great, but it’s never that simple. At these times, sometimes having a work is a problem is not exactly easy, and I have heard stories of many people who have a problem paying even when they do work, or their bosses telling them they can’t afford to insure them, or something else.

   Anyway, that’s about the economy… and its insurance - as regulation usually acts as such, providing added stability at the cost of some momentary gains - had been reduced significantly in the last decade. Perhaps this is a lesson worth remembering.

   As much as I value continuing education/higher education, if 100% of the workforce DID have college degrees, there wouldn’t be NEARLY enough decent jobs to employ them all. The number of people who’d end up working unskilled jobs would be the same, and the number of unemployed would be the same, and those who DID have the high-paying jobs would still be required to chip in for the health and well-being of those without them.

   I don’t have a college degree, but I’ve gotten myself into a good-paying, well-insured job that I enjoy. I got here through a combination of a good brain, perseverence, patience, and (let’s face it) luck. I have no reason to believe I would be happier or more secure if I had received my Bachelor’s; there are plenty of college grads out there flipping burgers or making lattes, and they aren’t ALL Humanities majors.

   As long as well-being is treated as a commodity, and made available only to the highest bidders, then to blame the poor and un- (or under-) employed for their inability to afford insurance is unconscienable.

    Boy if you would stop simply repeating your regressive talking points, you might not be so clueless.

    What, pray tell, would you say to those who have ALREADY “grown up” and paid for their insurance, only to find that when they REALLY need coverage, they’re dropped because they had acne at 16 and didn’t “disclose” it on the forms – DENIED!!!

    Americans shell out tons of money for insurance and are DENIED for procedures they DESERVE every day, because the more they are denied, the more the insurance co’s can PROFIT!!!
    For-profit health care is the true problem. If you really cared about humans, as opposed to your sterile talking points disseminated every day by FOX “News”, well… what’s the point. You don’t really care.

    Why can’t we have as good insurance as the insurance we pay for veterans, congressmen, and prisoners to have, huh? Whacha got against that?

    And you think that will change under a government-run system, Truth? Under the Canadian system, people wait weeks to get approval for an MRI and are often DENIED. If you really think the government can “fix it,” you’re living in a dream world.
