Charley has an excuse: he’s an australopithecine.
What’s yours?
jmarkoff2 said, 10 months ago
Brilliant observation by the cartoonist, although I don’t see why the australopithecine is necessary. It would be just as effective, perhaps even more so, to have the protagonist be a human, perhaps one of the stock characters from Chagrin Falls.

The irrationality of the human brain. It’s just those darn statistics and data again…

A human protagonist would have communicated the message, but Charley is funnier. Would you rather laugh at an old lady slipping on a wet floor or on a banana peel? Of course tastes differ. I may be bias due to Charley’s family resemblance; put a bag on his head and he could be my brother.

Don’t forget “flu” versus “EBOLAAAAAAAAAAH!!”
…Say, does anyone remember the last time the news media announced we were at Code Orange?

Read his title again, “How the Ape Brain Assess Risk.” It had to be.
Intelligent and educated humans can put risks into context, understanding the big picture. Ape brains respond only to what they can see right in front of them. Or on Fox News.

The outrage is over the intent, not the numbers.

Life is so simple for the liberal brain.

Perhaps in the case of ISIS, but since disease has no intent, how would that relate to the similar reaction to ebola/flu comparison?

@Markhop53
Details, please. I’m liberal, but life isn’t simple for me. What am I doing wrong?

People are less likely to be closed to the point if it is something they aren’t familiar with.

The Reich Wing noise machine is far larger than Fox “News.”

Attacking a group’s intelligence is low and unproductive. Stop it.
