That’s the thing about “Planet of the Apes” as sci-fi: you want to see a planet where apes learn to talk and develop technology without changing their essential nature? Look around you.

Unfortunately, the “good old days” never existed. A simpler time, perhaps, but even that is questionable.

Are you talking about the one by Petula Clark or the Prince version?

If Planet of the Apes followed the three species used you would find several changes.
    Gorillas would be pacifists.
    Chimpanzees would be the soldiers.
    Orangutans would be diplomats.

The old, who can’t think past “how bad kids are today” are boring! I’m in my mid 60’s and hope I never get that way.
    Cute chimps!
