Hollingsworth Hound doesn’t want life to be fair.
He just wants everyone else to be more miserable.

Perhaps a slight exaggeration…VERY slight…
kloser said, 5 months ago
The estate tax currently exempts the first 5 million, not 1 million. And that assumes Hollingsworth didn’t set up a tax dodge like Romney.

why should you pay estate taxes you already paid taxes on that money. And how many people does it take to pay 2 mill in taxes about 400 at five grand apiece who is not paying thier fair share
RayMofda said, 5 months ago
No you didn’t a house you bought for 100k is now worth 200k – you didn’t pay any tax on the 100k difference. Anyway if I pay my handyman 100 bucks to fix my broken window – he has to pay tax on that 100 bucks even though I already did so why the diff?

There should absolutely be an inheritance tax. how else can we break up the family farms that are left and make sure corporations own ALL the farm land. Even though corporations are people now, they rarely die.
Dragon0131 said, 5 months ago
Actually, the non-partisan committee that reviewed the proposed tax reforms found that less than 50 small businesses and farms would be affected. Besides, taxes were higher on unearned income for that very reason-it’s considered profit.

‘You’ don’t pay any taxes on it as ‘you’ are dead. Your heirs pay taxes on the multi-million dollar gift that’s supercharged their income, just like taxes on other types of income.

Please provide evidence of one single family farm that was ever lost as a result of inheritance taxes.

@RayMofda
Why? Because the rich are different from us. They made sure to change the laws to reflect that. The Rich don’t have enough and the poor have too much. That is how they do things here in the land of the free rich.
Night-Gaunt49 said, 5 months ago
Jefferson would approve of inheritance taxes since he was averse to an aristocracy forming here like it was in so many other countries. Sadly we lost on that area.
Chikuku said, 5 months ago
Today, anyone named Jefferson is probably a poor African-American, perhaps descended from Massa Tom the Slaver.
