Barry McCarthy was a prisoner in the movie. So either good research or lucky guess at a name to use.

I’m confused by what seems a break in continuity. Is this a summer rerun? Is Toby still in new production? What’s going on?

    Now I recognize him.

    pschearer:

You’ve got to start keeping up. Corey Pandolf already posted a message indicating that the strip was on hold while he’s setting up housekeeping in New York. He wasn’t putting out anything for a while, but decided to give us the “beginnings” of Toby in the interim.

I’m pretty sure that he said that the regular strip would resume right around next week.

New strips start on Monday, the 17th, along with a big GoComics announcement.

Let’s just say that I’ll own this joint as of next week!

    Ha!

For my part, thanks! I missed the early days of Toby - I was steered to this strip by Queen Victoria herself. The backstory is great!

    I’m psyched too.
But I notice in this strip that Corey already knows his IND subway routes cold - the obscure “V train” local route, which follows the F from the East Village up through midtown and plods a ways into Queens, is included in the illustration - lending convincing genuineness to his “New Yorker” identity. A history of paying attention while in town gives the new Apple adventure a running start. A Toby omen, I hope!
