When it comes to predicting the weather… it is Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin and all that is missing is you…

I read from someone who flies across the Arctic that now it’s all ice, so the fact that the Northwest Passage was open in September is history.

The Northwest Passage was probably open many times over the past 500 years, even though no one was ever able to find it twice. (They must have forgotten to write down where it was when they found it.) Now, of course, for the last few years, the Northwest Passage has been open and navigable every September, but the fact that it’s gone by January means there’s no warming at all.

There are a lot of official thermometers, and if one takes one of them located in a rural part of the US Midwest, it probably won’t show a statistically significant increase in temperature over the past 70 years. If one takes one in the Arctic, it will show a fairly large and quite significant increase over the past 70 years. Global warming means taking the average of all of them, and then using a regression on the time series. Since I reject regression (because it’s math) I figure there’s no global warming as long as winters are colder than summers.

I’ll only accept that global warming is real when winters are hotter than summers.

(The fact that Emperor Penguins have had to move from sea ice to shelf ice is also irrelevant, since one of the ships that was supposed to study such things was trapped in the Antarctic ice.)

Funny how any Inuit outside Eagan’s treehugging delusions can sled from Finland to Alaska, and funnier how the ice caps are breaking record sizes when all the treehuggers’ “scientists” have been insisting they’ll melt completely in the next decade for more than two decades.

global warming has nothing to do with daily fluctuations in temperature. IT is the fact that the average yearly temperature is rising.
The correct term should be climate change because that is what is happening. from pollution, deforestation, over population is causing the weather patterns to change. Ocean warming is causing larger hurricanes and winter storms

your post is lost in a vast sea of ignorance and stubbornness …..
you are right that the unfortunate coining of the term ‘global warming’ set the understanding back because of it being taken so literal….i.e., “global warming? how can there be global WARMing when it’s cold outside? HOAX! HOAX! HOAX!”

“Why do anything that might help protect all of the human race if some of humanity has to suffer?”

This is oxymoronic: if some of humanity has to suffer, ALL of the human race is not being protected.

“where life is beautiful all the time”
Never gonna happen, the greater good is the best that can be had.
Here in Alaska we are losing squirrels because they are now born after the vegetation has matured past the tender stage. The three weeks earlier spring greening that has happened in the last 50 years was faster than the squirrels could keep up with, they are still on their old schedule and the plants are too tough for the babies.
Canada has the same problem and this is merely a single species out of many.
Of course we are warming at 6 to 10 times the rate of southern climates, but it will get to you also.

Where the eskimos live its frozen solid right now.Maybe the cartoonist is confused about which pole the eskimos live close to.Maybe he missed the story about the global warming research ship being stuck in the ice off of Antarctica. He likely missed the story about the rescue ship getting stuck in the ice too. He likely hasn’t been keeping up with the National Snow and Ice Data Center’s website either. I have yet to hear why the global warming crowd explain why the Antarctic ice cap is and has been getting bigger every year since they put satellites up there to look at the ice caps.

TTM I just use Al Gore as an easy and well-known target when it comes to Gorebal Warming.
I’ve read his stuff like “Earth in the Balance” and seen his movie. The man is a scientific illiterate.
In any case, I am simply using him as a public name and whipping boy because of his celebrity as far as the subject of Climate Change goes.
This response written on the Internet that Al Gore invented…

When water has less salt in it it freezes at a higher temperature than when it had salt. As long as the temp stays below 32f you will get ice. If the salt is removed from the water it will freeze faster.
I have yet to hear why the global warming crowd explain why the Antarctic ice cap is and has been getting bigger every year since they put satellites up there to look at the ice caps.

    Now you have.

Interior Alaska normal for this time of year hovers around -30 to -50.
For the past few weeks when the states have been 40 degrees under what is their normal we have had +20 to +30 which is 60 degrees above our normal.
All in all I have to go with the average would be warmer when the temps are combined.
But this is science and not religion so it does not count, obviously.

You show massive amounts of ignorance in that post. Arctic sea ice has been disappearing for as long as satellites have been measuring it. (Before satellites, the areas covered were too vast for accurate assessment of coverage at the poles.)
Read this article from the Smithsonian about the effects of warming in the arctic on Barrow, Alaska.
Yeah, sure the ground may be frozen this winter, but the permafrost is going away, the sea ice is going away. (The extent covered now is far less than 1980 and there is a dramatic decline in old, thick ice.)
