Urban guns are glorified tools for mayhem. Children’s interactions with guns usually turn out quite badly for the children.

Today’s NRA is not the NRA of 40 years ago. They used to be in favor of universal background checks. No longer.

Why a mere 353 children shot in ten years?
Why do those libs demonize guns?

Your “artist’s imputation” is quite the straw man.
    .
By the way, is that avatar from the Blip webcomic?

Take a look at the New England Journal of Medicine article from January titled “Preventing Gun Deaths in Children”, written by two pediatricians. Using 2010 data, there’s an average of 7 deaths per day among Americans 1 to 19 years of age from gun-related injuries. In this age range, “gun injuries cause twice as many deaths as cancer, 5 times as many as heart disease, and 15 times as many as infections.” KenseidenXL’s numbers (if true; I didn’t confirm them) are for gun deaths in public schools, perhaps only in classrooms.
By the way, today’s NRA wants us to take extraordinary measures to prevent those deaths, by arming school staff and adding armed security.

Excellent editorial—and all too true. Aside from capitalism, gun worship has become the true religion of our society. Any intelligent people would have abolish the obsolete Second Amendment by now and prohibited all private ownership of weapons. But we U.S. citizens (not “Americans” since that term includes all citizens of Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America, for they also share this continent) have not shown ourselves to be be especially logical or rational. For myself, I’ll continue to vote for the most progressive candidates available in every election and donating to gun control activist groups.

But they use the guns. That kind of gun usually with large clips.

I am all for weapon education and training. Not just pistols, shot guns and rifles but also knives, swords, whips, nunchucka etc. Whatever any one would want to carry. One must be licensed to carry. (Proven proficiency.)

The NRA in 1977 was taken over by the gun and ammunition manufacturers. Not what the Union Generals who formed it in 1876 to develop proficiency in weapons.

Sure ban cars when you can show that cars were designed to heatstroke death of people. Until then you straw man argument fails.

Not always, at least not intentionally. Fooling around, cleaning a loaded gun, a kid finding a gun—sorry, your logic fails.

And people without guns (especially assault weapons) have a whole lot harder time killing and maiming several people in the space of a few minutes.
