That’s precisely why we need universal background checks in order to purchase a firearm.

There are a ton of gun laws on the books, that don’t get enforced consistently already. And how could they enforce more new laws when there is this sequestration crap going on?

Yep, why make laws if they aren’t enforced? That does not make the case for ruling out enforcing universal background checks. You are right about sequestration. It is crap… blame game nonsense.

the laws on the books have been rendered impotent by the very congress (limp d**ks) who enacted them…

On occasion, an accidental discharge can occur by means other than the finger pulling the trigger, such as dropping a loaded weapon.
Accidental discharges not involving trigger-pull can also occur if the firearm is mechanically unsound: poor maintenance, abuse, inept “gunsmithing,” or the use of substandard materials or defective ammunition in the gun may all lead to breakage.
One last form of accidental discharge, known as cooking off, occurs when a weapon becomes overheated, with the firing chamber hot enough to ignite the propellant charge in the ammunition round, causing the cartridge to fire.

how many years has it been since we have had a head of ATF? many of the same people that complain that the laws aren’t being enforced are the same ones blocking the appointment of the head of the very Dept. that is responsible for enforcing the laws.

So what do you think America will look like when all law-abiding citizens don’t have guns and the ciriminals do? Do you really think that violent armed cirmes will decrease? In the UK they went up over 50% the first two years after they stripped their citizen of their right to defend themselves.

I personally don’t own guns, but I am wise enough to know that if you take away a citizen’s right to bear arms that both the criminals and the government gain dangerouly unacceptable advantage – citizens become subjects.

At least a dozen times in modern history, the most notably Nazi Germany, that after the populace was de-armed; that horrific autrocities were done to the citizens. Google it, you’ll see, well over 100 million un-armed people have died at the hands of their own government – Sandy Hook is horribly sad and unacceptable – but is anyone listen to the cries of the 100 milion?

We don’t believe our government could do that to us, and today that is a pretty safe bet. But no government ever gives up power once it is yielded to them. Who knows what America will look like; or what our government might want to do to us in 20, 50, or 100 years from now?

Law abiding citizens are no threat to the government or anyone else. Insane and evil people will use guns to harm or kill people – but take away their guns and they will find something else to use.

Guns aren’t the issue it is our rapidly declining morals fed by lewd standards in entertainment and the the almost vilification of the “normal” law abiding family headed by a faithful husband and faithful wife.

Where are we headed? Where we have our knives confiscated and have to eat with plastic forks and knives? That wouldn’t help either!!

Address the real issue, we need to live our lives to a moral standard pleasing to God and benefical to society. Then pass it on to your children!!

The access is to purchase the weapon, not lift someone else’s. If anyone can buy the weapon (no background checks) there will be a number of nuts running around using guns with no judgement. The only ones to fear backgound checks are those who are afraid they can’t pass them.

Or blame a vehicle for a fatal accident. Thus we should eliminate drivers’ and vehicle licenses, right?

Nobody blames firearms except in stories made up by Fox News or Lush Lamebrain.

The Supreme Court which has the final say in court cases has had a conservative majority since 1975 yet conservatives still rant about liberal judges.

“So what do you think America will look like when all law-abiding citizens don’t have guns and the ciriminals do?”

Nobody is trying to take up guns. This nonsense has been going around since at least 1964 when Goldwater said LBJ was going to outlaw guns if he was reelected.

He was reelected and there was no effort to take away our guns.

There is still no effort to do so.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Nobody is going to take up your guns.
