    There’s a lot of housecleaning to be done in the Church. The rumors were that the prospect was too much for the “pope emeritus” and a new guy with no baggage would have to be elevated to try to deal with it.

    His parents would have immigrated from Italy, no later than the thirties based on the Pope’s age and the fact that he was born in Argentina.
