Not bad, but it should have a foreign accent.

    Best government money can buy.

Who has the most money to spend on politics? Maybe the fading middle class? The working poor? The unemployed?

Perhaps the Tea Party can spend millions/billions to get elected?

I am guessing someone else is supplying the money this election.

Corporate America. We finally got some separation of politics and religion. Now we have a great coming together of corporations and politics.

Lets see who really runs America.

No need to lose your ersatz sleep. Corporate cotributions are now just freedom of speech. Who sez you can’t yell fire in a crowed theater?

Not like a good American closed Union shop that wisely invests millions of the workers money on the candidates the Union Boss deems worthy. What other party? You mean the legal interpretation worked for Union and Management? Was this in the news, between the lost dog and the Pot Luck Supper? You mean unions own the Chicago Democratic Machine, the one that put up who for President?

This here is NOT about whether Corporations make money. It is about corporations and the Chamber of Commerce buying the US elections, probably with foreign Corporations money.

Why do Lefties hate corporations so much? Because the job of corporations is to make a profit. Why do Lefties hate profit so much? Because it is selfish. Why do Lefties hate selfishness so much? Because it goes against the altruist ethics they learned in college, in kindergarten, in church, on their mother’s knee.

They (and most people) have been taught to think altruism means benevolence, but it really means sacrificing your own interests to others. The most consistent practitioners of altruism throughout history have left millions dead, all in the name of sacrificing your interests to the Tribe, the Community, the Proletariat, the State, the Master Race, God (with various aliases), and so forth. Altruists differ in details, but agree on one thing: Compared to whatever greater movement they are pushing, you don’t count.

This is the exact opposite of the meaning of the Founding Fathers’ credo: YOUR inalienable rights to YOUR life, YOUR liberty, and the pursuit of YOUR happiness. America is the first egoistic country in history, and that is the source of America’s greatness.

(So how to get this back to corporations? That’s for another time since I’m not being paid to do this.)

PSStupid: We don’t hate corporations at all. We only hate people who run certain corporations who are trying to illegally buy elections, and otherwise act as if the laws of the land don’t apply to them. If the truth be known, we hate the morons who are not corporate leaders who support them far more. At least the corporate CEOs have a vested interest in the process. The idiots who support them are only hurting their country and themselves.

Name calling, Edcole? That’s not worthy of you. Or is it? I suppose now it is.

As for not hating corporations, that doesn’t match my observations of over 50 years of leftist anti-corporate agitation.

As for buying elections, exactly what does that mean? Bribing voters? No, I didn’t think so. Apparently that means buying ads that are supposed to sway the mindless sheep that leftist elites think we all are, just like they believe corporate advertising does. Of course, labor unions don’t buy elections, do they?

It pleases me that I can reduce a self-admitted Lefty to such public irrationality.

Someone’s observations are flawed, as are his reasons. Anyone stupid enough to believe in that useless fraud Ayn Rand is too stupid to reason with. Please keep your straw man fallacies to yourself and go away.

The Supreme Court decision to view corporations as individuals erodes the power of individual people to make informed decisions about who and what they are voting for. If you watch the latest political ads an increasing number are funded not by opposing politicians but by organizations with generic patriotic sounding names that suggest that it is a group of concerned citizens or a grassroots organization when in fact it is a corporate entity attempting to sway the voter to vote for an agenda that may be in the best interest of the corporation and not the individual watching the ad. It is an elaborate form of fraud that is now made legal. Corporations must profit to stay viable but not at the expense of decreasing the rights of We The People…

Why to rightards live corporations? Because they employ the fewest people at the lowest possible wages? Because they buy special treatment from governments? Because they kill people in the name of profits whenever they can? Because the are fundamentally amoral entities?

Corporations should be treated like any other tool and not worshipped. Corporations have been used to commit all manner of atrocities but they have also been useful to create wealth. If you forget the danger because of a slavish devotion to profit then they will cause you misery.

If Democrats are anti-business then Republicans are anti-American.

I happen to be an American and not a business.
