No, we just plan to go out and vote. Last time I checked, a rational vote counted the same as a passionate one.

I think the beginning of the end probably started sometime in the 60’s or 70’s. According to my old history prof, the expiration date on most governments is about 200 years after said government’s formation, the governments that survive longer have either been in Asia or underwent major changes in order to survive.

Let the buyer beware! In less than a month you will vote for one of two lies

1 We will not tax anyone 2 We will only tax people who make more than you

Which promise seems likely to you? No, there is no 3 to vote for.

Since I’m unemployed I have no issues with taxing the rich more. Since they all have this crazy love for Reagan lets raise the highest tax bracket back to the levels when he was president.

WHERE is the outrage for Citizens United. Corporations own the media and the truth is under their control. America, for the corporations, by the corporations and of the corporations. Doesn’t that make you want to do something?

If I’m forced to pick a “beginning of the end”, I use 1913. It’s the year of the modern income tax and the start of the Federal Reserve Bank, which took over management of the money and credit supply, and thus in radiating waves, the banking system, the investment industry, and eventually, however crudely, the entire economy.

It was neither Bush nor Obama but the accumulated and accelerating effects of a century of government manipulation of the economy that brought us to our current condition.

Another historical tidbit: “Liberal” originally referred to one who advocated liberty, meaning individual rights, limited government, and capitalism. (Outside the U.S., it still has a similar meaning for much of world, where the “Liberal” party tends to stand against the socialist parties.)

The change of the word “liberal” is just one example of how the Left has corrupted meanings. For them, “progressive” means only progress toward socialism, and a “right” is not a freedom any more but a demand to be provided with something.

Just when I think everyone has gone over the edge one way or the other here comes pschearer with an extremely informed and accurate comment.

I think that it is great that everyone posts opinions yet no one does anything to facilitate a change

I agree with shytimes2, who agrees with Rocky, who agrees with pschearer. Nice accurate job pschearer!

Only exception to your thoughts is I believe Obama WANTS socialism and Bush was just in too deep to know what was going on.

Let’s see the hands of everyone (in these posts and in the real world) who has thrown what they think is the “S” bomb (call it Socialist and that totally destroys whatever they say is Socialist)… who has studied… no… just read any objective history of the evolution of market systems.

What? No hands? Oh, those of you who watch Faux say you learned all you need from those paragons of intellect on the “Fair and Balanced” network… sorry. You really need to get some other information sources.

If it was not real lives being damaged by the clearly power-driven absurdities of the string-pullers of the many sincere and misled “Tea Party” types, it would be funny to watch them mangle the intents of real people like Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine and others.

Sorry, guys & gals, waving a “Gadsden Flag” (look it up) or dressing in spiffy Continental Soldier costumes does not make you an expert on the U.S. Constitution and how it evolved from British political and social inspirations.
