This reminds me of one of my favorite cartoons a man and woman are in a bar, he says “hey, sweetie, what’s your sign?” “Stop.”

Incredible likenesses of Jon Stewart and Cruella DeVille - joke somewhat less incredible, however.
Wordplay doesn’t literally mean ‘playing with words’ Bucky… there are rules. One of them is that it ought to produce a result which is witty or funny or otherwise pleasing in some fashion or another.
“To get to the church on time, saves 9!” is not an example of wordplay. Neither is Biff Tanner’s famous line from Back to the Future “Why don’t you make like a tree, and get out of here.” but it’s still advice I wish you would consider.

Does anyone use the expression “jibber jabber” unless they’re talking about small children?
And when did “shut-in” become a synonym for quiet? Most shut-ins I know won’t stop talking when they have company. Just because they’re lonely, doesn’t mean they’re quiet.
Try this…
He: “I can’t believe how loquacious I am when you’re around… I used to be quite taciturn.”
She: “How about you taci-turn it around and walk away.”
Meh. Not very good, but at least the words are used properly.

FLS,
Once again, you only have a problem with this strip being in reruns
Guess you must really hate the following Strips:
For Better or Worse
Calvin and Hobbs
Fox Trot
Liberty Medows
Out of the Gene Pool
Reynolds Unwrapped
These are but a few of strips that are in reruns.
Adora,
I use jabber jaw

Tigger, the strips you cite are retired, ceased, stopped, they are ex-strips. The syndicate continues to run re-runs.
The Quigmans is supposed to be a live strip with new comics coming out 6 days a week. Because he’s lazy or lacks creativity (take your pick), Bucky recycles old strips instead of writing new ones 4 or 5 days a week. Horse of a completely different color.
And I haven’t heard anyone use the phrase Jabber Jaw since the abysmal cartoon was canceled in the 80s.
