At least he had the sense to give up tights.

Oh please, FLS…. be reasonable. Of course we can see plainly that it is Superman, made all the more obvious by his emblematic use of Elizabethan english we all so warmly remember from the comic. Oh, no?
This is, again, just stupid. FLS makes the case clearly and I have attempted to expound on it: What about the man is characteristic of superman?
The shirt? As has been pointed out, there are plenty of people who wear that shirt. A bum who possesses one might well wear it more often than superman himself as the bum is not likely to possess Clark’s other attire.
The phrase? To what is this phrase a nod? Do you remember Superman saying “I shall now retire to my… supercave?” No, I distinctly remember (from the original Shakespearean) “Henceforth I tarry to rescue thine day”
OR as some of you younger folks may remember from the american bastardization “Here I come to save the day.”
No, no… a thousand times no. Et tu Bucky.

yes, this seems rather sad more than funny…..be it a superman fallen upon hard times (if it is, those superpowers could get him a ton of life enhancing money real quick!) or just a bum with a superman shirt….
depressing

It has got to be a bum. Plaid pants are a step down from tights and Superman’s unbreakable nose could never look like that even if he became a wino.

I would chalk up the “joke” in this one as a sub-pun: flophouse/fortress. Nothing else to see here, folks, move along.
