I wish I had kept all the boxes for my Matchbox cars.

I wish I had some of my matchbox cars (well, one in particular…the 1963 Studebaker Wagonaire)

If the box has never been opened, how does anyone know what’s in it?! In reality all you’re collecting or displaying is the box. I’d much rather see the toy car on display!

It’s like Scrödinger’s Toy – as long as the box stays sealed, the toy is both there and not there.

Yeah, so you could be trashed in a month, and the kid’s parents would have go out and buy more toys. If everybody only collected toys, the toy business would go bankrupt.

Wasn’t this the moral of “Toy Story 2”?

I don’t have vintage toys but my colection of comic books go back nearly 30-years. But I’ve read every books, as opposed to putting each book in a sealed bag right away. Then I put them in bags.

I lost all of mine after replenishing my 1960’s collection in the 1980’s.

Toys don’t have feelings. If I want to keep you in the box so that I can get $100 for you on Antiques Roadshow, that’s my prerogative!

I have a few “vintage” toys, but I’m saving them for my future grandchildren. And, I won’t let their dad save them for posterity. Toys are for playing with. :)

Long before Toy Story, the King of the Island of Misfit Toys reminded us that, "A toy is never happy unless it has a child to play with it . . . "

Nearly 30 years? Wait another 30 and they’ll be worth something.
