This is true. I know all of the dog walkers by their pets’ names – and they are the same. When we chat it’s “I was talking to Triffid’s dad the other day and . . .” etc.

On the rare occasion a human is mentioned by name, we usually have to name or describe the dog to place him/her.

Some dogs’ names are unknown, and their owners go by breed – ‘German shepherd man’, , ‘schnauzer guy’, ‘apso wife’ etc

Same thing happens with the kids at school. I do enough volunteering there to know the kids’ names, but the parents are “John’s Mom”, “Casey’s Dad”, etc.
