I’ve often wondered about how people found out which mushrooms, or for that matter a lot of foods, were safe to eat. It had to be trial and deadly error

An old survival manual said to take a sample the size of a BB and wait for ill effects. One can go days without food if necessary for testing, but most will already be familiar.

@angusdad
Yeah, I’ve thought about this story many times, too. ;-)
@Zuhlamon, Acupuncture was started when the Chinese physicians were making notes after wars and puncture injuries… after many notes, they noticed that some ailments got better when they were injured in certain spots. Weird but true! ;-)

All mushrooms are edible—but some kinds, only once!
