If wildlife refuses to cooperate with progress, extinction is the only alternative.

Cooperate? Really? He moved 3 times and no place left to go.

Is the bear the Democrats or the Republicans? Discuss. :)

Couple of times every spring and fall the local paper has pictures of Bears seen in peoples yards
Never heard of anyone getting hurt
If they could be trained to only eat people who insist on discussing politics where it is not welcome, they could be considered a public service

yeah – the wildlife doesn’t “get up and move” – the wildlife “gets up and DIES!”

We have bears moving in closer, one was walking down the middle of the street in our town a few months ago. Someone always sees one somewhere in town or residential areas around here. Same with the deer and coyote. Where else can they go? We’ve forced them out of their habitat.

The raccoon under our house says that is his habitat.

It isn’t the bears moving closer – it’s humans taking their habitat- as clearly pointed out in the strip. I live in the Catskills – serious bear territory, and am careful about what I do outside, especially at twilight and later. My garbage pickup company is currently building me a ‘bear-proof’ dumpster, at my own expense, because 1) I am tired of cleaning up the mess when they go dumpster diving and 2) I don’t want to add to the number of bears who associate dumpsters, and thus people, with easy food. We have a saying around here “A fed bead is a dead bear” – when they get too comfortable getting easy meals they can become overconfident around humans, and sometimes aggressive. I am willing to pay for the extra sturdy dumpster for both my comfort and their protection. I don’t put nasty poisons out to hurt them like some folks have done – they were here first, after all – I just try to be a good neighbor.

This isn’t political. Humans have gone so far building homes in the wilderness that the animals have no place else to go. So they come back in the only place left. The new exurb neighborhoods.

@Doctor Toon
Ditto!!! I hold very strong views on politics, but mostly these days I’m so fed up with all of it I just want to get a few laughs and these comics are usually pretty safe. Trying to turn this strip into something political is pretty bizarre!

Apparently this bear has run out of options! Nothing left for him to do but try to save himself.

Even a deer when cornered by a cougar will charge head on.
