    Was never impressed with MTV or VH1 back in those years…i regarded many of the music videos as canned brain damage that robbed me of my being able to put my own mental pictures to the music when i listened…

    Other MTV story…my college sweetheart tried to get me to listen to some of those early MTV groups telling me to ‘listen to the message in the music." My response was ’If i want messages with my music, i’ll get a singing telegram!"

    @John K

    Love your comment about the singing telegram. When I was small, I thought it would have been fun to receive one. :)

    So here’s what you do… you make a new channel to put the original stuff on, only to chase it off a few months later with more meaningless drivel.
    Repeat ad infinitum, ad nasueam.

    And SciFi had SciFi and History had history and Animal Planet had all animals and A&E had arts and entertainment and on and on and on…

    Testify. When I think of where the History Channel is today I want to go kick something.

    Good God, I first saw Eisenstein’s “Alexander Nyevski” on A&E!

    Excuse me, I have to go reinforce the toe on my shoe.

    I did kick something; my TV. Right out the window, Second City style. Thea felt so good.

    And when’s the last time you saw a biography on the Biography Channel?
