    I’d call this a hare-brained idea … but I think they’re rabbits.
    In Shakespeare’s day, of course … all the roles would be performed by male rabbits.

    RABBIT STEW

    1 3 pound rabbit
    1 large onion, diced
    1 stalk celery, chopped (stalk is the correct name, but it’s better known as a “stick”)
    1 tablespoon salt
    Dash of pepper
    6 cups boiling water
    1 cup uncooked carrot cubes
    1 cup uncooked potato cubes
    1/4 cup flour
    1/2 cup cold water

    Wash cut-up rabbit; place in heavy kettle with onion, celery, salt and pepper.
    Add boiling water; cover tightly; simmer for 2 hours.
    Add vegetables; continue cooking till tender.
    Mix flour and water to paste; thicken stew with this mixture.
    Serves 6
