Didn’t Peter Griffin already do this?

I feel safer in public places if little girls are emulating the new Merida, who isn’t armed with a bow and arrows, than the original (from the movie “Brave”), who is.

There can’t really be that much wrong with the world if this made the news. (they’re going to criticize the deck chair arrangement on the “Titanic” next)

If you examine all of the “makeovers” of the “princesses,” you will find that it is just a difference in the style of the artists and the media. Many are cell-shaded in the original, so the conversion to CGI creates a different “look.” Others have been slightly redrawn by the individual artists.
The major complaint that Merida lost her bow and gained a waist are as pointless as complaining that Botticelli’s Venus is diffferent from Titian’s … oh, wait.

or, all the comic book fans who get upset over any change to their beloved characters. ie wonder woman, spiderman, any x-men, superman, etc…

Have you seen this makeover? It’s far from a simple resketching of the character. It’s a different character, as I think you’d agree if you saw it, and cared at all for Pixar’s original Merida. Obviates any statement about the difficulty of converting from cell-shading to CGI, too.

What about all the little boys who have emulated things like Robin Hood, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, cowboys and indians, etc.? Looking at the new princesses . . . it is pretty disheartening.

I rather like the more recent incarnation of the TMNT’s and love the new CGI Green Lantern, now canceled.

I saw a picture of the “redesign”. Pretty sad. Disney just couldn’t resist the “has to eat her peas one at a time” standard of “beauty”.

Looks like the makeover got a do-over:

Eating your peas one at a time isn’t all that bad… as long as you still eat all of them.

I’ve now looked it up, and yeah, I have no idea what they were thinking. The new Merida would hardly have looked anything like the original.

Forget Merida. Look what they did to Mulan!
