Why is Conan’s speech balloon coming out of Jay’s mouth?
    :
    Conan came.

    Jay conquered.

    We saw.

    End of story.

Tell Conan to go back to The Simpsons. It hasn’t been the same since he left…

It seems reasonable given the way they perform. Leno was a very funny stand up and Conan is a very funny writer. Both have staffs of writers (Leno has over 30 writers on Tonight yet they write the same 8-10 jokes every day!).

Carson was no very funny most nights but the show was never about him, it was always about the guests. These guys today, and Leno is the WORST, want the show to be about THEM. Leno and Letterman both step on guests punchlines and talk over guests and try to stay in the spotlight instead of allowing the guest to be first. The result is the show is less funny & people grow tired of them

Of the two, I’ll take Conan over Leno any day. His show is more entertaining than Leno, although I find TV to be boring overall these days. Sick of un-real reality shows, tasteless, stupid crud that all of it is.

This is scary! it originally ran in Jan. 2010, and it’s STILL relevant today! Even more so, actually…

There is but one god of late night and Carson was his name.

I watched The Tonight Show a couple of weeks ago because Rachel Maddow was going to be on it and I like seeing her in environments other than her show. I had not seen The Tonight Show in probably over 15 years.

The two things that I laughed at in Jay’s opening monologue were videos taken off the internet.

Johnny Carson is dead, so it late night. Though Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show can be quite good.

The only reason I ever watched Carson was the paucity of channels and the fact I was up at that hour. Now, I almost never watch TV so late and if I did, there is “Watch What Happened” with Andy Cohen and The Sex Show, that I’ll watch live if I decide to give them a video call, but I’d rather actually call my lover (He called last night late) ;-D

I dunno, it always seemed to me that Carson was at his funniest when he was trying to save a gag that went haywire (and they often did, usually thanks to Ed McMahon).
I never found Leno particularly funny, but I was ambivalent towards him until the whole NBC fiasco. Conversely, I always liked Conan, and that just strengthened after that whole mess.

I stopped watching late night when Jonny Carson left the Tonight Show.
    -
Leno also does the voice of the “Crimson Chin” for “Fairy Odd Parents.”

Leno is a lot funnier than Letterman, Carson’s supposed heir apparent. He’s funnier than Conan by a wide margin. He’s funnier than Fallon. But the funniest guy in late night is actually Craig Ferguson.
