social media is a bane on society…some say it is necessary, others disagree.

I like to watch the daytime courtroom shows on TV, and believe me, many of those lawsuits stemmed from something posted on Facebook!

Really? I may start watching those shows again, just to see the new level of stoopidity.

I’ve taken a hiatus from Facebook— my right-wing friends have not yet gotten over the election (just two days ago they posted a link to Orly Taitz and new evidence that there is a Kenyan in the WH!) (dipped my toe in to congrat Dave and Jeff on their engagement), and now the gun nuts have come out of the woodwork.

I left FB over a year ago, then had to rejoin for a class. I finally cut the last grasping tendrils off completely. Now half the blogs I go to require you to be on FB in order to comment.

I am a reluctant observer with some real friends and then some “friends” I have no clue who the hell they are.I never comment or respond to the cutesy pictures of their kids and pets or to those devotional or political postings.
I don’t tweet and text only when necessary. Ditto emails.
Social Media is sort of like a religion or church, some need it more than others.

Linguist – And yet you’ll comment your fool head off on a comic strip site. Hypocrite.

It’s because you can retain some degree of privacy or anonymity as commentor, but none on FB. Plus no marketing tie-ins, or selling your data….

Thank you. Which is why I don’t feel like a hypocrite, – a tad paranoid and a very definitely a curmudgeon perhaps.
Besides, the company and commentators on GoComics are, for the most part, enjoyable to read and have something to contribute. I have come to really appreciate many of them.

Looks like my computer rebooted itself while I was at work (internet was down earlier in the day here) and didn’t upload today’s. Sending it now.
