still amazes me on how fast teens can text on their phones. but, then again, typing class is mandatory in many schools. and, it starts early (elementary/primary school). and, some schools even offer classes to create an app.

A former neighbor who sat in front of a computer at work waiting for a crisis learned how to type http//www. really fast and I see how relevant that is now.

I still use the “hunt and peck” system.
Less risk of typos.

Let’s give some modern teenagers a typewriter, and see how fast they can work a full size qwerty keyboard with just their thumbs!

nine fingers actually (how soon they forget)

Just tell Siri to wear out her thumbs.

I use all ten. I alternate thumbs on the space bar depending upon which hand struck the last letter in the word.

The Columbus method – pick a key and land on it.

That would be more typos for me. I don’t remember where the letters are and my vision is poor, even with contacts and reading glasses. But 35 years after typing class, my fingers know where to go, and quickly too.

It has been said that if you sit an infinite number of monkeys in front of an infinite number of keyboards, they’ll eventually recreate the entire works of Shakespeare. The internet has just about proven this to be false.

@jimboklein
The number of people posting on the internet is no where near infinite, is in fact a unnoticeable speck compared to infinity. Therefore nothing about this premise has been proven or unproven.

…yes, but if you consider that the stuff that IS out there was written deliberately, not accidentally, and the vast majority of it truely is CRAP, then you can extrapolate, and i think it gives some credence to jim’s point…
