    That’s my neighborhood. Put anything remotely usable out by the curb, and it disappears in a heartbeat.

    So the couch isn’t flame retardant?

    I was thinking it would turn out like the Chesterfield sofa in Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In Germany there are days set aside to put out items for others to take (then the city takes them away).

    so… if you want (or need) to recycle a couch you deserve to get burned?

    So why did it combust or explode or whatever?

    don’t couches have that toxic flame retardant stuff in the cushions. also, why do you need a couch/sofa?

    Sometimes the toxic flame retardant stuff doesn’t even work to reduce flames.

    Good observation, Susan. Thanks for pointing it out.

    That reminds me of how McEldowney kicked our “couch” group to the curb when he closed Pibgorn comments.

    Okayyyyyy, but nobody lit it, and the cushions were removed, and all they were doing was lifting it.
    The only thing I can come up with is she booby trapped it, but how is that “Darwinism”?

    Yeah, I’m not getting it either. Neither am I getting the hostility towards those who “steal” others’ trash. Some folks are just making ends meet and can use what you deem refuse- what’s the harm?

    @Linguist

    I’ve done it myself. Found some furniture I could use.

    You mean poor decision makers? But this isn’t normal or natural. Booby trapping a piece of furniture you have freely put on the curb is ruthless and psychopathic. Not natural and has nothing to do with Evolution or Darwin.

    We’d better not risk another frontal assault. That sofa’s dynamite!
