    I can’t see anything either, the first few seconds after I turn the lights on. Stand there and blink for awhile, I thought it was just cause I’m old.

    It’s those CFL bulbs— they take about 30 seconds to get to full brightness.
    .
    Which also makes them suitable for the traditional “I’ve got an idea!” bulb (h/t Keith Knight), at least for me.

    I use those energy saving daylight bulbs at home, as my window faces an air shaft, and no natural daylight comes in.

    I wonder how long until people draw ‘idea’ lightbulbs as pigtail CFL’s? Seems like I’ve seen it, possibly in Girls With Slingshots.

    I did a similar gag back in 2007 which I re-ran recently. It was in a Sunday page. The first panel had Thomas Edison with a “light bulb” thought balloon. The second panel was Al Gore with a CFL bulb in his thought balloon.
