Yeah, but it’s really cold up there.

Ironically, the one talking about Canada’s advantages looks kind of like a caveman. Who is he?

Relations with First Nations weren’t that great. And the francophone and anglophone Canadians don’t get along too swimmingly, either.
I’d agree that Americans could learn some things from their northern neighbors, but let’s not go overboard.

Could Canada be what it is if the United States were not what it is? I think not.
Wait: Canada has more guns per capita but a lower gun crime rate? Doesn’t that sort of kick the legs out from under gun control advocates?

Sir John forgot to mention that we have actual freedom instead of only paying lip service to it. I think the eventual downfall of the US will be because of collective arrogance (see above comments).

That is Sir John A. McDonald, first prime minister of Canada. Also on the $10.00 bill…so he trumps Abe! lol

As an American what really depresses me most is the level of ignorance most Americans display about our neighbors (see this comment list of examples). The “best” one recently were the morans who threatened to move to Canada if the new healthcare law is not overturned.

Canadian health care was the argument against moving to Canada, which Obamacare eliminates. Canada’s economy is healthier, their gun control laws are slowly being relaxed, they have a much more realistic energy policy, lots to like. Not perfect but they’re moving in the right direction, unlike America.

Americans have WAY more guns per capita according to the last study done.
Canada’s economy is disproportionately linked to the oil industry these days with the shale oil sands booming, which means they are relaxing their environmental standards, which is not so good. Getting that oil is a dirty job indeed.
I like Canada and Canadian cities — I’ve spent significant time in Toronto and Vancouver and some in Montréal — and of course single-payer is way better than any other plan proposed to date, especially Romneycare, but it isn’t perfect.

John MacDonald, the first prime minister of Canada (under Victoria). Canada has had 22 prime ministers and no one is counted twice. Ironically, both men were never in power the same time(Abe 1861-65 and John after 1867).

I think Abe meant ma TANTE. Monoliguistic English speakers find grammatical gender strange and variable adjectives even stranger.

Well, it’s clear that Abe was not really good at French.

It would if the US population consisted of Canadians.

As one blog commenter said, “I’m sick of this heat! I’m moving to Ethiopia!”
