princeparvel “Gulph” is a rarely used obsolete spelling for the word gulf which also means the abyss, a deep chasm of a basin.

princepavel: Liz’s spelling of it in the last panel is to echo the spelling used by Peacock in the closing lines of the poem: “that gulph unfathomably spread between the living and the dead.”
