They got us to give up broadcast TV to paying $50-$60 and more per month for cable and sattelite.

Yeah, yeah, Hollywood execs and cable company suck, but.. if everyone got their shows, movies and sporting events for free, then there wouldn’t be any more money to produce new ones.

It’s more likely that they would go back to the old direct sponsorship model. In which the show is expressly paid for by some company and this is worked into things like the title and the events of the show.
