    Does anyone know why Humpty Dumpty is always depicted as an egg?

    @BRI-NO-MITE!!

    As I understand it, the poem was originally a riddle, and ‘an egg’ was the answer.
    Another one from the same time period is: Four stiff standers, four dilly-danders, two lookers, two crookers, and a long wiggle-waggle (A: it’s a cow)

    I had the idea that the poem was veiled satire about a nobleman or some high official.
