    Yesterday, Avon posted:

    “Joe Allen,
You’re related to me if you are descended from Edward Doty, who was aboard the Mayflower in 1620 (albeit as an incompletely-documented indentured servant).
    Are you?”

Edward Doty was only a temporary indentured servant. But, there are known documents that he worked for a certain person to pay off his passage.

Another passenger and Edward had their passage paid for by one of the other passengers. Neither of the two servants got along well with each other.

Edward got into legal trouble quite a bit, too. But, Edward was one of the signers of the Mayflower Compact.

I do know about the Society which Avon mentioned and I have known about it for a very long time.

My father said that Edward sort of ran away from home and he was not from a poor family.

Oh, did Miss Overdunne come back to Elderpark when the residents were asleep in their own apartments to play Crespo’s piano?

The Dusty-Boone-Professor clique probably thinks that Crespo was playing the late-night concert.

Miss Overdunne might be able to play a variety of musical styles.

I used to know a professional pianist who could certainly do that. He passed away a few months ago. Larry Dalton could play classical to current popular music. He and Sam Harris had several concerts together in Tulsa. Sam was a “Star Search” winner a long time ago and he was from the Tulsa suburb of Sand Springs. Sam was in Tulsa this past week end. I haven’t been to any of Sam’s concerts.

Hey, Joe! I am supposedly descended from Edward Doty (my late uncle William Doty sent everyone a family-tree thingy many years ago).

My grandfather was named Niles and I believe he had brothers named Harry and Joe. I don’t recall much else, but I think there was another Niles further up the line.

Wonder if Miss Overdunne plays piano like Chico Marx plays piano?

My grandfather’s name was Lewis and he had a brother named Harry.

My sister has a family genealogy charts which were originally her ex-husband’s idea to do the research on them.

While her ex’s fathers brothers were great people, they called his father a “fruit tramp.”

Betty, one of my father’s sister’s daughters, got a hardcover copy of a book that was originally published in the late 1890s which contained the Doty genealogy. She got it from a publisher in Ann Arbor, MI. That was quite a few decades ago.

Betty had brought it to a Doty family reunion. Betty’s sister’s granddaughter has done genealogy charts.

But, she has Grandad’s name as Louis, and Dad’s brother Orval as “Orville.”

And she while she has Dad’s first name, Samuel, correct, she has “Merle” as Dad’s wife. But, Dad went by his middle name which is “Merle.” Mom’s name was Loretta.

My paternal grandfather and his siblings were born in Illinois. Grandad was born in Peoria.

One time, a person contacted me because she liked genealogy charts and had seen a Doty family one online where I posted a comment.

She asked me if I had the “Doty nose.” I sent back a response of “no” to that. Back in the early 1900s, when Grandad was living in the Creek Nation and working as a butcher in Okmulgee, a customer asked him, “Mr. Doty, why don’t you go tell them you are Indian and get your name of the rolls, too.”

That’s because the Doty nose is a Roman type of one. None of Dad’s descendent’s got that nose shape.
