Phil Frank’s The Elderberries centers around Dusty, a cowboy whose middle aged daughter has decided it’s time for him to hang up his spurs and move to Elderpark, a retirement community. While there, Dusty meets the Professor, a great brain with a bad memory; Evelyn, who can still see well enough to drive at night; and the General, a veteran with bad hips and a lot of stories. Together, they deal with medications, the loss of youth, and their adult children while maintaining their humor and building their friendships.

The General loves his mindless drivel
It makes him angry and ready to snivel
All the pregame activities
Arouses his proclivities
And makes him act like Evil Kneivel

As you get older, you may no longer enjoy the thrill of the game as much …BUT … you DO laugh a lot more at the idiots trying to tell each other how much more THEY know about “THE GAME”!

I am more thankful every day that I made the decision to cancel my cable.

West Coast offense? I thought offense was just, “Focus on runs”, “focus on passing”, or “even it out”, and there you go.

I have cable so I can by-pass the sports. Don’t listen to any of the mindless drivel (or dreevel) for sports or politics.
If you watch or listen why do you need several persons telling what you will see and hear and then what you saw and heard. Bah Humbug

Currently, I only watch one sport on TV and that is rodeo.
I am a fan of Professional Bull Riders; but, I dropped my membership in TeamPBR, the official fan club, when PBR events (they refuse to use the word “rodeo” for their version of the bull-riding rodeo event) stopped being aired regularly on an extended basic cable network.
One time, I had the page of the PBR website on my computer where it had live cameras behind the scenes while the actual bull riding events were going on. And, I had the TV on showing the live events themselves.
One of their cameras was in the “training” room where the medical staff and they medic type persons were taping up the guys in places under their shirts and jeans.
The average height range for professional bull riders is usually between 5’4” and 5’7”.

Another comment I have about team sports events is this: When there is a tie at the end of the actual time of play, why do they have to go into overtime?
Why does one team have to be a winner and one a loser in any game?
If two teams tie for 1st place in the final standings before the playoffs, why is the next team on the list not in 2nd place instead of 3rd place?

That’s because it’s not how you play the game, it’s whether you win or lose that counts!
