I’m really starting to get into the spirit of the holidays now! And not a minute too soon! Less than four months to go now! Phew!

Costco had Christmas trees for sale last week BEFORE Labor Day. At least they used to wait until after Halloween. (and in my childhood it was after Thanksgiving - does anyone else remember the huge hype with Santa arriving at the department stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving?)

Tom, I have another great idea for a strip, and you can save this one until Xmas as well. (Sorry, but all this holiday talk has got my brain pan a-poppin’.)

So, sometime around Xmas, the Spirit of Labor Day appears to haunt the Doozies…because it’s upset that Santa horned in on its limelight, see. Turnabout is fair play and all that. Anyways, I think it would add a nice layer of complexity to the strip. Keep the readers on their toes.

“Whoa, is that a Labor Day reference? Gosh, I’d better subscribe to GoComics and check the archives and see what all the hub-bub is!”

    It’s marketing gold!

@JanCinVV—I do remember & you are 110% right. AND it had a real thrill of anticipation to it. Unlike now. Diluted & rendered one more marketing fiscal quarter.

Yep, I miss those days where we were not inundated for months before Christmas like we are now.

Todd – I think you are on to something!

Two more days of Santa comedy, then we return to our regularly scheduled Doozie hilarity.

One of the big box stores around here was selling Christmas items at the beginning of August (not kidding!)

JanCinVV, yes, I remember it well. Lunch at marshall Field’s in Chicago, and seeing the gigantic Christmas tree.
