With its tortured perspective, gritty realism, and outlandish urban humor, Derf’s The City has kept an outsider’s beat on current events, trends and out-there aspects of contemporary culture since 1990. Whether depicting the coarse insanity of modern urban life or the ultra-clean realm of the feature’s only recurring character - White Middle Class Suburban Man - Derf uses dissonant humor to speak up for what he calls "the common schlub."

you can get sodas made with real sugar from Mexico … it has the real taste of coke like i remember it before the "new coke/classic coke’ scandal of the ’80s.

That whole fiasco was so they could make Coke with corn syrup in hopes that no one would notice. Coca-Cola imported from Mexico is very popular around here. It tastes the way it used to and it comes in a glass bottle so it doesn’t taste like plastic.

This whole cartoon was written to try to get our minds off the fact that Obama lied about Benghazi. Well, it ain’t workin’!
