    @pschearer: no he’s sayin thts like the worst thing tht an upper-middle class man could think about the recession.. like now he just cant buy unecessary shxt tht he thinks he needs but ordinary ppl go w/o everyday

    PSchearer: as I understand it, Derf is criticizing members of the middle class who are complacent about the status quo even when it makes their lives worse. He also appears to be against the relentless materialism of some in the middle class, especially when it undermines their well-being in other ways (the current cartoon being a case in point).
