With its tortured perspective, gritty realism, and outlandish urban humor, Derf’s The City has kept an outsider’s beat on current events, trends and out-there aspects of contemporary culture since 1990. Whether depicting the coarse insanity of modern urban life or the ultra-clean realm of the feature’s only recurring character - White Middle Class Suburban Man - Derf uses dissonant humor to speak up for what he calls "the common schlub."

Hm, the boldface is overused but “genital tasering” is a great phrase.

The anti-capitalists are everywhere since King Obama took over. The funny thing is, it is Capitalism that paid for the Communist revolution and all the funding for socialist governments everywhere. They must be proud.
And I will dump this comic immediately from my list. I did not realize King Obama reached this far into my home…

I wonder how many of the people who revile the business world have ever worked for a profit-making enterprise.

The bad thing about socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples’ money.
Dmajor said, about 1 month ago
Yes, MisngNOLA and wwward, those are the only two alternatives: exploitive, non-unionized hypercapitalism OR absolute total socialism. Nothing else. We must align ourselves fiercely with one or the other, and everyone who sees a flaw in one extreme must be a raging tool for the other.
Now if you can get someone to poke out your other eye, you’ll be able to be completely contented, with none of that annoying fuzzy real stuff to bother you.

Lighten up- it was runamok captialism that got us into this mess just as it caused the Depression in the thirties.
Lighten up, dittoheads.

Listen to the broke capitalists ranting in this forum. America is near bankrupt, suckers. Your wonderful system failed. Get with it. Let the new guy in town clean up. Give him half a chance. You really miss G.W.B already?

To those who took my light-hearted quote as an abject rejection of socialism, or a forthright endorsement of all things capitalist, I offer my favorite quote from the movie “Stripes”, to wit : “Lighten up, Francis.”

You know how to end this recession? Simple… Have the media report that the recession is over. Same way it all began.
