With its tortured perspective, gritty realism, and outlandish urban humor, Derf’s The City has kept an outsider’s beat on current events, trends and out-there aspects of contemporary culture since 1990. Whether depicting the coarse insanity of modern urban life or the ultra-clean realm of the feature’s only recurring character - White Middle Class Suburban Man - Derf uses dissonant humor to speak up for what he calls "the common schlub."

Too much morphine, Brother Derf - but so glad you is back! Tell us what really happened to David Carradine in Bangcock. I think he was slain by the vengeful Ghost of Bruce Lee! Bruce was supposed to be the star of that Kung Fu TV show, but they stole it from him and gave it to Dave. Dave, you shoulda stayed away from Bang bleeep or any city in East Eyzher for that matter.

Derf- today is the first time to read your strip. Love it!
Have you done any work in Mad magazine? Your art is very evocative.
