Art holds a mirror up to Nature. The Buckets come along, turn the mirror on Art and say, “Look how goofy you’re acting. Now get to work, Art. Your kids need an Xbox 360.”
The Buckets comic strip isn’t a parody of family life. Parodies are filled with hearts and rainbows or enraged tirades and dramatic confrontation. The Buckets, though? Nope. Real life, baby. It’s funny because it’s on a page and not in your house at the moment. Next week, when it’s happening to you, you’ll thank us for reminding you that it’s supposed to be funny.
Greg Cravens looks in the mirror and see not himself, but all of us. And then he draws up the silly, grand, goofy, thrilling, utterly human things we do and calls it The Buckets.

No doubt of that. No budget since 2008, for example. It’s pretty scary that about 94%of the total monies going out of the U.S. government are not in a budget, but are automatic. The 60% or so for social programs, the 30% or so for debt service. Doesn’t leave a whole lot for anything else. When I went through the governments pubs on that last year, it was clear that no one knew exactly where all the money went, with frequently contradictory numbers.

Their job right now seems to be set on costing thousands of feds and contractors their jobs, I’m a contractor in the federal government and we’ve been having lots of meetings about what will happen. No one’s really sure.

Dear Speaker Bonehead: the budget is Congress’ job, not the President’s.

The Speaker and his house have passed budgets. You need to address your comment to the Senate Majority Leader.

You mean the House Majority Leader. They obstruct, they are off 2 weeks, barely one 1 week. Ask them why they tarry while the country burns?

Like the old joke says: “If ‘PRO’ is the opposite of ‘CON’, is ‘PROGRESS’ the opposite of…?”
