Art holds a mirror up to Nature. The Buckets come along, turn the mirror on Art and say, “Look how goofy you’re acting. Now get to work, Art. Your kids need an Xbox 360.”
The Buckets comic strip isn’t a parody of family life. Parodies are filled with hearts and rainbows or enraged tirades and dramatic confrontation. The Buckets, though? Nope. Real life, baby. It’s funny because it’s on a page and not in your house at the moment. Next week, when it’s happening to you, you’ll thank us for reminding you that it’s supposed to be funny.
Greg Cravens looks in the mirror and see not himself, but all of us. And then he draws up the silly, grand, goofy, thrilling, utterly human things we do and calls it The Buckets.

Like I said a refreshing breeze on a summer’s afternoon. It’s nice to find a true artist out there.

Wow! I’m glad this week went over so well. I was worried that it was too repetitive. High fives all ‘round. Allan, I think I’ll include this week’s cartoon in next year’s Reuben Division Awards for Newspaper Comic Strip. All Y’all cross y’ fingers!

Greg – this story arc ended in synchronicity. You create these story arcs long before we seen them. So you have no idea what I did today.
.
Vancouver’s 5th annual Zombie Walk. I went armed and with a camera. The make up was great. Even for the kid that just put on a white shirt and used ketchup for his blood and wounds. They gathered. Then shuffle/stumbled the 20 blocks to the beach to do Michael Jackson’s Thriller. And party of course. I could not stay for the parties. Didn’t want to be on the buffet table. :)
