Self–described “angry cartoonist” Mikhaela Reid’s multi–panel weekly strip The Boiling Point offers up her unique and steaming blend of passionate political satire, darkly whipsmart humor, moral outraged–ousness and fully engaged give–a–damn fun. From “Dick Cheney’s Magical Universe” to “The Brighter Side of Middle East Violence”, from “Bush Versus My Cat” to “Every Sperm Is Sacred!”, Reid’s boldly drawn and ingeniously conceived commentaries offer those steamed off by these ill–tempered times a well–crafted outlet for mental venting.

other similar cases:
At the 2006 Asian Games, 800 champion Santhi Soundarajan of India was stripped of her medal after failing a gender test. Perhaps the most famous case is that of Stella Walsh, also known as Stanislawa Walasiewicz, a Polish runner who won the 100-meter gold medal at the 1932 Olympics and was later found to have ambiguous genitalia.
And at this level all female athletes have gender testing.

Easy solution – end the division of sports by sex. If you don’t want the testing, just let everyone run in the same races and their plumbing and musculature won’t matter. What? You don’t want that either? Hmmm. You DO have a problem …

Fact is fact. She is nota 100% woman and theresor has an genetic adavntage in the sport when competing against other 100% women. The “heels and lipstick” comment at the end shows the ignorance in the feminist tone. Women and men are not equal in the field of athletics and no one should ever pretend that this inequality deserves equitable treatment.

SC, agreed. My girlfriend and I were discussing this and her argument was that the runner was born that way and it’s not her fault that she has ambiguous sex traits. My argument was that she has the same sex traits that are banned when introduced artificially through hormone or steroid use. GF then said well she’s a gifted athlete, and the male parts shouldn’t exclude her from racing as a female. My reply was “would she be a gifted athlete either without the male parts, or when running against males?” Needless to say, we didn’t solve the situation, lol.

I’m all about equal rights, but I gotta agree with SC and MN. If she had chosen a career that had nothing to do with her athleticism, she wouldn’t have to go through the testing. But she chose to be a professional athlete and you have to accept the caveats that go along with it. It’s hard. It’s embarassing. And I feel sorry for the girl - she didn’t ask to be born that way. But she’s by far not the first person in the history of the sport to undergo it.
Men and women are not physically equal. Yes, there are some excellent female athletes out there. And some very lazy male couch potatoes. But on average, most men develop more muscle mass than women naturally because of testosterone and their physical frames are better suited to distance running, especially in the hips where women’s hips are wider and more curved which makes the lateral back-and-forth motion of running legs a little less efficient than on a man.
Any kind of testing, be it drug, gender or anything else is always going to cause the athlete embarassment, be they male or female. The insinuation is that the talent displayed is so exceptional that it cannot possibly be natural, and that’s going to offend anyone who has pride in themselves and their abilities. But putting yourself at the mercy of that kind of scrutiny is the price you have to pay for competing at that level.

Is it any wonder the Ancient Greeks competed in the nude?
HectorPriam said, 2 months ago
Think of the inherent hazard involved when men are competing nude in a relay race…when a runner is reaching back to take the baton but looking forward.
Let go of that and grab the baton, !@#$%!, the BATON!

If they compete in the nude I’d watch that.

What I don’t get is the “girl” never had a period so she KNEW something was different about herself. It’s borderline fraud and not fair to the women who do not have testicles.
