    And Now – she rests on my desk where I at least can see her.

    Actually, most parrots have their nostrils right near the top of their beak which also serves as a third hand. One thing that makes bird watching such fun is the different ways they use their beaks, wings and feet (the various breeds even have different manners of attack – they all know their strong suites).

    Mine was an LSC. Her beak was severely damaged which, as I’m sure you know, is quite a handicap. But she learned to cope very well. I was the first person she learned to trust after the trauma of being treated for the injuries. She did not understand that she was being restrained for her own good, and developed a fear of hands.


    I met her after her recovery, figured that out, earned her trust, and she was then gifted to me because she trusted only me. It wasn’t too long before that she trusted everyone.
