The Argyle Sweater presents a surreal, hilarious (and sometimes punny) look at the world you think you know. Armed with a willingness to explore every edge of the surreal, Scott Hilburn’s creation presents his sharply unique take on history, everyday life and the truly absurd.

In both the UK and the US, there is a “punch buggy” game (with local variations, of course), in which the first person to see a VW Beetle calls “punch buggy” and gives their neighbor a soft punch. Variations include “yellow punch buggy” which makes a yellow VW Beetle the only type where you can actually punch a person. Other-colored Beetles only give you the right to punch the roof of your own car (which gives you a point). That’s it.
And this is why I love the Von White Farms logo!

Alexander Hamilton (on the ten dollar bill) and Aaron Burr (sitting vice president) engaged in a duel with pistols in 1804. Hamilton was wounded and died the next day.

Spammers flagged. To arvelru from yesterday: I think we all understand this arvelru. You don’t need to keep repeating yourself at great length. The fact remains that flagging works and GoComics is trying to do something about it. (See “The Argyle Sweater” posts, Tues. Oct. 12 towards the bottom.)The spam goes away each day when enough folks flag. Yes, they sometimes re-post later in the day and we all don’t have the time to re-visit later and re-flag. We each will continue to do what we can in this battle against the weasel-scum!

@Aryalover your comments have become more annoying than the spam. Flag it. Move on.

There’s also been a TV commercial in which the first person to see whatever car it is punches whomever he/she is with.

In the US it’s ‘Slug Bug’ and for us purists, it”s original VW Beetles only. Not the ‘new’ Beetle, and certainly not the entire product line that the Madison Avenue idiots put into the new commercials.
Here in LA, we also have SlapBand for the ubiquitous Lap Band billboards
