Custer’s Last Stand changed to Custer’s Last STAMPbecause STAND sounds like STAMP. Custer wears a uniform like the postal workers. He’s on a horse like the the postal workers used to use during the Pony Express days. With the price of stamps going up, he can just deliver himself. I get it.
Of course, what is not shown here is how Custer gets STAMP-EEDED by the Indians who were also obviously upset about the fact that Custer was delivering his own mail on their land.
The Argyle Sweater presents a surreal, hilarious (and sometimes punny) look at the world you think you know. Armed with a willingness to explore every edge of the surreal, Scott Hilburn’s creation presents his sharply unique take on history, everyday life and the truly absurd.
