According to the Geico commercial, Fred made enough money to pay for the rock necklace. I remember an episode that Wilma had the necklace when they first met.

I don’t care how good looking Wilma is, she’s wa-a-a-aaay too high maintenance. I remember the time they thought they weren’t really married and she made him “woo” her again. And her mother! Yeeesh.
