    I’m pretty sure that women have a better sense of smell than men and can also hold their breath for longer. I wonder which of these attributes evolved first.

    I agree with you in that it’s a question of intent – genuine affection is lovely, a lack of self awareness bordering on creepiness is not … that being said, I’ve hugged a dripping wet manatee and thoroughly enjoyed it, so maybe it’s also a question of mammalian context.
