Somehow this brings Doris Day to mind singing “Be my little baby bumble bee” in the movie “By the light of the silvery moon”.

As a kid growing up in Southern California we had a Night-Blooming Jasmine tree in the back yard and summer evenings were filled with the sweet scent of its flowers.

For most of my childhood, as my parents pronounced it, I thought we had night-n-bloomin-jazzmen back there.

Only keep away at a safe distance, otherwise some of them may decide to go after you with stingers completely erect….!!

This one reminds me of the Japanese Ukiyo woodblock prints.

Yeah! Jasmine! Them and Plumeria blossoms (frangipani), yum. On my HNL layovers, during my morning exercise I’d pick up freshly fallen Plumeria blossoms that litter Ala Moana park in Waikiki and arrange them on the nightstand to perfume the room for the day. Heaven!

Pretty background. Your bees all look a little surprised…what are they looking at??

    Thank you, Marg,
I believe the syllable count is both excessive and unbalanced, but your sentiment is both sweet and true.

What a wonderful memory to have … Even in that grating transplanted New England accent.

’Tis true, I have certainly inhaled my fair share of bees.
Once on a summer holiday, I was laying by swimming pool beneath a jasmine covered wall – it was all very blissful, until I was woken up when a bee stung me on my top lip – it was both painful and embarrassing, as my yelps brought the attention of all and sundry, and they stared at this large, clumsy Australian with a swollen face, cursing and dancing like the wounded fool I am.

Then it may interest you to know the background art is actually Chinese – it’s a snapshot of an ancient silk painting from the 12th Century, during the Song Dynasty, entitled “Branch of Flowering White Jasmine”. You can see an image on Wikipedia, though the original is proudly housed in the Shanghai Museum.

I know what you mean, EagleSkies,
I once planted several Frangipani trees on the breeze side of the hill on my old farm,Turtle Cottage, in Northern New South Wales.
Whenever the afternoon breezes would roll up the valley from the sea, about ten miles away, the fragrance would flood the yard and the house – pure heavan indeed!
