I spent 12 years in the Army, even went to Vietnam, I wrote that to write this, I am heartily sick of people saying “thank you for your service” All because fewer than 1% of US Citizens are willing to join the all volunteer military. I was 3rd generation to join the US Military, as a volunteer-this back when we had the draft. 1 son, 1 niece, and 1 nephew are currently spread out to the USMC, the Navy and the Army. Some families join the military over several generations.Meanwhile, 99+% of Americans sit on their duffs and once a year say “thank you for your service” but never join up. IMPO we should restart the Draft. That might just force us to place country over selfishness. A very good thing
