My mom was so bad in the kitchen, I learned to cook as self defense.

I joke that my mom treats me like an idol – she gives me burnt offerings!

Mom even burns water! She can’t hear the tea kettle whistling, and she often lets the kettle burn dry. It’s worse when she forgets to close the spout so the whistle can even work.
I’ve offered to buy her a new kettle with a trigger-actuated whistle spout, but she says that she can’t get the finger strength to operate it.
She’s almost 85 (and easily passes for 60) – but she actually wants to run for the Pennsylvania General Assembly this year!

Home cooking just like Mom used to make – just before Dad shot her.

Amazing response today. Was I the only one here who had a mother who could cook well? I still miss her home cooking.

We were lucky too, to have a Mom who could cook. Miss her! ♥

I’m not living in PA anymore, but still follow all the news. People have been trying for years to get the Assembly to support a move to reduce its size (PA, unlike my new home state of Florida, is not a citizen initiative and referendum state.)

If your Mom campaigns on a platform of introducing a law to reduce the size of the Assembly, she’d win in a landslide…

No, you’re not alone, and I also miss my mother’s cooking. And my mother….

My mother believed cooking and food odors by themselves cause one to become fat. So she never cooked and didn’t allow anyone in the kitchen. She lived on candy and it didn’t work out well for her health, along with the cigarettes.
